'Products of artisans of State are highly sought after'

Certificate and cheques were distributed to trainees who took part in the 4-weeks training on production of leather products at a programme held at Takhel Ching community hall today.
The programme organised by the North East Women Entrepreneurs Association, Manipur chapter was attended by Dr Dinesh Upadhayay, convenor, BJP Medical Cell.
Speaking at the event, Dr Dinesh Upadhayay said despite being a small State, the artisans of Manipur are very skilled and their products are highly sought after.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of hardship to them with difficulty in finding work, one of the major problems.
The training programme organised by the North East Women Entrepreneurs Association, Manipur Chapter in collaboration with Footwear Design and Development Institute, Noida will enable the artisans to take up productive works at their own home, he added.

He also lauded the role of the association in helping the artisans in various villages across the State.
Kangabam Bijaya Chanu, president, North East Women Entrepreneurs Association, Manipur Chapter said the certificate and cheques distribution programme on completion of the 4 week training which was organised during the early part of 2021 had been postponed due to the pandemic.
50 trainee were given training under the first training.
These trainees will further give training at various locations and they will be paid a sum of Rs 15,000-20,000/- per month.
The second batch of the training will be organised at Thoubal district from November 20 .
The programme was also attended by RSS Sangathan national general secretary Yumnam Basanta Meitei; Konthoujam AC intending candidate Oinam Goldflag and RSS Sangathan north east in charge L Suresh as presidium members.
