Imphal, November 15:
Rise in the cost of education on one hand and the deteriorating system of education on the other have been taken serious note during a joint meeting of executive members of All Manipur Government Higher Secondary Lecturers' Welfare Association and principals/vice principals of Government higher secondary schools at TG Higher Secondary School today.
The day-long marathon meeting strongly felt that lack of adequate infrastructures and teachers in the existing 44 higher secondary schools would give serious impact on the careers of the students, especially those in the 10+2 stage.
After a serious deliberation on all these issues plaguing the education system in the State, the meeting resolved to put pressure on the Government for appointing regular principals in these schools, not to increase education fee from the students and pay special attention to lack of infrastructures like practical equipment in these schools.
The meeting also observed that lack of responsibility on the part of the teachers working in Government schools is another factor that led to deteriorating in the quality of education being provided to the students.
The very fact that private schools are faring well in the examination amply shows that the Government urgently need to put its act together and look into the ills plaguing the education system and its policy, the meeting mooted.
