In connection with the counter insurgency operations currently being conducted by the Central Para Military forces and State security personnel at Bishnupur and Churachandpur dists, security forces will soon begin operations in and around the Loktak Lake with the help of boats, disclosed a source.
Even though the exact date for conducting the operation is still unknown, all necessary preparations for combing the lake have been finalised, said the source adding that army authorities have also begun extracting minute details about the people residing near the Loktak Lake.
Sources also informed that counter insurgency operations have increased considerably on suspected locations by cordoning the area without any prior information and added that army personnel have also been deployed at all the strategic locations under Bishnupur district including the Old Bazar road.
It may be noted here that one brigade of the army and three battalions of CRPF are presently deployed in Bishnupur Dist.
Even though counter insurgency operations have not made much headway in Churachandpur dist, security forces are currently doing its best to have area domination over the dist, said the source and added that security personnel have also begun monitoring transportation of essential commodities into the remote areas.
The quantity of essential goods, particularly food items being taken into the villages are strictly checked to see if they correspond to the population strength of the family and village or not.
Mention may be made here that the Dist administration has clamped night curfew in the Churachandpur District Headquarters to facilitate the security forces in their counter insurgency operations.
