The State Government, in consultation with the Prime Minister's Office, has worked out the tentative itineraries of the Prime Minister when he visits the State on November 20.Before the public meeting at Kangla on November 20 at 3 pm, where the PM will announce the handing over of the historic fort to the people of Manipur, he will lay the foundation stone of the Toupul-Jiri rail head at Jiribam and address the convocation ceremony at Manipur University, where he is likely to announce the conversion of the varsity to a Central University.
Personnel of the Railway Board are already in Jiribam for laying the foundation stone of the rail head, said sources adding that IG (LO-I) Shahid Ahmed and Imphal East SP have been stationed at Jiribam to over see the security arrangements.
A team of the Special Protection Group is scheduled to arrive here for the security arrangements of the high profile visit.
Speaking to newsmen today, Information Commissioner IS Laishram said that a definite decision of whether the PM will lay the foundation stones of the Cultural Complex at Palace Compound and the Capitol Project at Chingmeirong will be taken tomorrow.
If the PMO agrees to the proposal of the State Government that Dr Manmohan Singh lay the foundation stones of the Cultural complex and the Capitol Project, then everything will fall into place for the SPF Government, added IS Laishram.
Owing to certain technical difficulties in building a helipad at Mao in addition to the problems likely to be faced at the time of landing, the proposals to let the Prime Minister inaugurate the Passion Fruit plant has been dropped, said IS Laishram further.
Before wrapping up his visit to the State, the Prime Minister will also address the press at Raj Bhawan.
The PM is scheduled to come upto Silchar on a special flight from where he will take a helicopter to Jiribam.
It is yet to be decided, whether the PM will fly in here on a chopper or a special flight.
Two Ministers along with some high ranking civil and military officials will probably accompany the Prime Minister, said the Information Commissioner.
The State Government will demarcate the Kangla fort area which covers 236.62 acres tomorrow morning, said Laishram.
Officials of the Revenue Department, PWD and Art and Culture Department will conduct the demarcation work, he said adding that pillar posts will be erected at the boundaries of the fort.
Preparation work at the Kangjeibung located inside Kangla is also being finalised.
The PM will address the public meeting here.
The Information Commissioner also appealed to the public to attend the public meeting at Kangla and asked them to reach the place before 2.15 pm.
Meanwhile sources said that the Chief Minister is likely to present a painting of Kangla sketched by renowned artist RK CS to the Prime Minister.
