Lamka, November 10 2010:
A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unknown person on Sunday at Bungmual village about 3 kms from here, while her parents were away, family sources said.
Police are yet to make any breakthrough as the parents, who barely manage two square meal a day are still stuck with attending their child at the district hospital following her admission at the hospital here on late Monday night.
The girl's father told reporters that his daughter wailed in pain saying her private part was sore when he returned home on Sunday at around 2 pm.
He however did not suspect any mischief and ignored it.
As the girl still complained of the soreness even the following day, her mother checked it only to see that the girls private parts had swollen abnormally.
Even then she still waited for the girl's father who was out for work to return before they took her to the district hospital on Monday evening.
At the hospital, the girl's father said, they were advised to take their child to Imphal and let off with some prescription.
Fearing they might again overlook the girl's agony, the family consulted a doctor at his private residence only to confirm that she has been sexually violated.
Even as the family returned home after procuring the medicine prescribed by the doctor and further consulted the matter at home.
At the same time the district hospital authorities despatched an ambulance after tracking down where their residence is.
The girl was then taken and admitted at the district hospital since.
Attempt to obtain fresh developments later today went in vain as the father was out of station and the mother was unwilling to respond to queries.
Meanwhile, various civil society organisations of the Paites including, Paite Tribe Council, Siamsianpawlpi and Young Paite Association today issued a joint condemnation statement over the alleged rape of the minor.
Zomi Students Federation general headquarters also condemned the incident.
