Many CSOs support boycott, general strike

Imphal, November 10 2010:
A number of Civil Society Organisations based in Imphal has extended support to those organisations which called for boycott of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's visit to Imphal and general strike on November 12 .
The United Committee of Manipur (UCM) said in a press release today that the UCM will wholeheartedly support the calls for boycott and general strike on November 12 on which Sonia Gandhi would be arriving in Imphal, and announced that it would join hands with those organisations in any kind of agitation launched in protest against arrest of UNLF Chairman RK Meghen @ Sana Yaima and keeping him hidden for a long time.
The UCM feels that boycott of Sonia Gandhi's Manipur visit is the right movement of the people of Manipur in protest against the Centre's in different attitude towards the repeated voices of the people of Manipur to let the whereabouts of the UNLF Chairman known to the people.
The UCM further said that from investigations it has done, it has got indisputable information about the arrest of Sana Yaima.
Therefore, if he has been made to disappear, the UCM will produce the evidences it has got before the international community and with the support of the international community the UCM will fight the consequences.
The UCM appealed to the people to support the boycott and general strike and warned not to make any attempt to defy the call for boycott.
All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association, Nongpok Imphal Loumee Sinmee Apunba Lup (NILSAL), Nongchup Imphal Loumee Sinmee Chaokhat Thourang Lup, etc have also expressed support for the boycott and general strike on November 12 .
