Meritorious students feted at different places

Felicitation programmes of meritorious students of Thangmeiband and Lilong assembly constituencies were held at different places today.
At Langol Tarung community hall Thangmeiband Development Organisation (Tribal Forum) hosted the felicitation programme with MLA Kh Joykisan, Takdo president M Rajendro and SP (Imphal East) Kamei Angam Romanus gracing the event as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Addressing the gathering MLA Joykisan announced that from next year on parents of top three students of the assembly constituency would be honoured for their care and dedication in producing excellent pupils by awarding Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 each.
The MLA also exhorted meritorious students to apprise him in case there is any financial constraint which is likely to hinder their academic pursuit.
Strongly emphasising that Manipur needs hard work and brilliant students for all round development of the State, Joykisan reiterated his pledge to provide all possible assistance in prolonging studies of meritorious students.
nearly 200 students who passed with excellent marks in BSEM, CHSEM and CBSE conducted class X and XII examination were honoured on the occasion.
Rs 1000 each was presented to Thangmeiband AC students who achieved 90 percent and above marks, Rs 800 each to 75-90 percent mark achievers while Rs 500 each was handed to students who culled 60-75 percent marks in the three examinations.
On the otherhand, meritorious students of Lilong assembly constituency were felicitated by Social Welfare and Educational society, Lilong Haoreibi.
As chief guest of the felicitation programme held today at Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai Ngangou Bazar, Lilong AC MLA and Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir handed over gifts to Yumkhaibam Sabir, the passed the recently declared UPSC-conducted civil services examination, all India topper in the CBSE examination Md Ismat, HSLC joint ninth position holders Mohsin Khan and Md Lukaman Yumkhaibam.
In total 200 meritorious students of the constituency were presented gifts to encourage them aim for more success.
speaking at the occasion, Minister Nasir expressed confidence that in case students concentrate and strive for excellence in academics, and Government employees work with sincerity the cherished goal for all round development of Manipur could be achieved.
Urging Government employees against lobbying for favourable and convenient place of posting, he affirmed that Manipur would become a leading and exemplary State of the country.
Noting that Lilong has been transformed to a haven for drug peddlers and vehicle lifters, Nasir said Lilong assembly constituency will be progressive when such anti-social elements are wiped out.
