The Ministry of Rural Development has released grant-in-aid worth Rs 8 crores as part payment of first instalment of Phase-VI, for construction of rural roads in Manipur under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
An informed source quoting PIB, New Delhi report said that the allocated amount is from the special window created in National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development under RDF as grants-in-aid to Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency, the implementing agency of PMGSY programme in the State.
Pointing out that PMG-SY is a cent percent Central sponsored scheme to provide road connectivity in the rural areas of the country, the source further reminded that under PMGSY target is set for ensuring road connectivity to all habitations with a population of 500 persons and above in the rural areas, and about 250 persons and above in respect of hilly States, tribal areas and desert areas through all-weather roads.
