Lamka, November 01 2008:
Alleging a poor modus-operadee on the part of the State PWD, contractors in Churachandpur called on the North Eastern Council for intervention on the ground that the fund provider is not supposed to ignore such a letdown of its funded projects.
In a letter address to the Secretary NEC, T Kaigou President of CCpur District Contractors' Association alleged that PDW NEC Division II has neglected the contractors of Churachandpur to Singngat 0-32 kms stretch along the Tedim Road.
Almost all along the road, 100 to 90 percent of the works were completed but the NEC Division II of PWD has made no efforts for preparation of bills as per the progress of the work and for payment of the same, it said.
Calling on the NEC to see to it that its funded projects are earnestly and transparently implemented and payment made in time, the association has pleaded for an inspection team to access the work and also to exert pressure on the PWD for payment.
On August, the association submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister highlighting their plight but except for one crony contractor who was fully paid the situation sees no transformation, said the contractors.
