As in previous years, various social organisations hosted Ningol Chakkouba feast at the community level by inviting womenfolk of various communities to promote love and unity among the people.
United People's Front (UPF), Manipur hosted Chingmi-Tammi Ningol Chakkouba programme at three different places of the hill districts.
At Kangchup Chiru, the programme was attended by UPF president YK Dhiren and village chief Akungthanga Chiru as presidium members.
At Tuikhang Aimol village of Senapati district, UPF general secretary O Bikramjit, village chief Yaima Aimol and Ng Ibobi Meetei attended the function as president, chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Similar feasting was also hosted at Saman Tangkhul village.
All Manipur Tammi-Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup organised the Ningol Chakkouba programme of the hill and valley women at Ibudhou Khamlangba Sanglen of Sagolband Moirang Leirak.
The programme was attended by Joint Director of Tribal Development Department Arambam Ongbi Binodini Devi as chief guest, Tathot of Kharam Thadoi, Achim of Chiru Kangchup and Aruni Kabui of Heikrujam as guests of honour and president of Tammi-Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup Soibam Ongbi Momon Leima as functional president.
Universal Mothers' Organisation (UMO) also hosted the Ningol Chakkouba feasting of the hill and the valley women at Kangpokpi Bazar yesterday.
The event was participated by social worker MC Ngamthikhul as chief guest, UMO president Sorojini Leima as functional president and National awardee TM Rajen Ayangba and NE organiser of National Child Labour Project O Mahabir as guests of honour.
Our Jiribam correspondent adds: Ningol Chakkouba was also celebrated at two different places in Jiri.
Sponsored by AMESCO, the All Jiribam United Clubs Association (AJUCA) hosted the Ningol Chakkouba feasting at Hilghat community hall where L Amo,
a Hmar community leader and president of AJUCA M Maipaksana attended as chief guest and president respectively.
On the other hand, another Ningol Chakkouba feasting was also hosted by Jiri Development Organisation at Jiri Town Hall.
Womenfolk of various communities residing in Jiri took part in the feasting at the two venues.
After the feast, gifts were also presented to them as token of love.
