NEZCC to give facelift to its Dimapur, Guwahati centres

Director, North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) Dimapur has taken up projects to revamp some of the existing facilities at the centres based at Dimapur and Guwahati.
NEZCC director Som Kamei informed the media that beautification and renovation works at the Stone Sculpture Garden Dimapur, for improving the facilities has already begun.
To make the garden more attractive, traditional huts of all the States would be showcased, where the project has already started with Assam and Nagaland.
Showcasing the rare and unique traditional huts, the Karbi's from Assam has already put up the tree house at the stone garden while the Khiamungan representing Nagaland State has started the construction of traditional morung.
In the next few months, Sikkim and Mizoram would follow suit, Director NEZCC informed.
Stone carvers from all over India including Meghalaya, Tripura , Manipur, Orissa, Nagaland, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh etc have put up attractive stone sculptures showcasing the art form and creativity of the artists at the Stone Sculpture Garden.
Director NEZCC, Kamei has appealed to the public to visit the park and to enjoy a good evening while also learning about the traditions of not only Nagaland but other States of India.
He also informed that many a time, children from outside Dimapur visit the park and the Mini Museum at the NEZCC Dimapur, as part of excursion/exposure trips, where they learn about the rich culture and traditions of the North Eastern States.
North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur has been implementing various programmes under National Cultural Exchange programmes and headquarters programmes.
Apart from the regular programmes of showcasing the rich and varied songs and dances of the region, the Centre has taken keen interest in developing and nurturing lesser-known art forms of theatre and painting, to speak out to a larger audience on a variety of issues.
NEZCC has been in existence for 25 years and the silver jubilee celebration would be held this year, in a manner befitting the occasion, Kamei informed.
