Imphal, July 25 2011:
The prestigious Sainik School, Pangei in Imphal is in the soup again.
Students of the school went on a plundering spree Sunday night all because of an alleged imperious behavior of the principal's son.
Students of classes VIII, IX and X on Monday demanded a replacement of the school's present principal, Col.Ravikumar, charging him of being autocratic and irrationally unilateral with the rules and regulations of the school.
According to a source, on Sunday night as the students were in the mess having their meal Kosam Bhatt, the principal's son, provoked several students with his overbearing and imperious statement that he has the power and the authority to expel any student of the school.
After few minutes of heated argument, enraged senior students went on plundering school properties, getting provoked by the reckless statement.
The situation was tensed overnight in the campus, the source added.
The school authority invited Monday the parents of the students who were involved in plundering school property to sort out the situation but an understanding could not be arrived at between the parties.
Students began gathering around Monday morning inside the school campus and demanding that the principal be promptly replaced.
As some students also began trickling out of the campus, classes were suspended for the day.
Later the school authority closed the main gate to ward off any unwanted intrusion.
Heingnag police team rushed to the spot and was seen manning the main gate and neutralizing the tense campus.
This is not the first time that Sainik School Pangei has been in the news for all the wrong reasons.
And not the first time that the school's principal Col Ravikumar has been in the news for his domineering and irresponsible conduct.
Recently, a student of the school, Malemnganba, was punished by the principal for picking a fight with his son, which the students think is "unfair" .
The principal also allegedly used racist remark against Malemnganba in his office room.
