Court seeks status of NH 37 from BRTF, PWD

Imphal, July 25 2011:
Frustrated with the situation of the NH 37, two persons have petitioned to the Guahati High Court which led to the Court seeking status and report of the present situation of the highway from the respondent parties which include the Border Road Task Force (BRTF) and State Public Work Department (PWD) .
A division bench comprising justice BP Katakey and justice T Nandakumar has sought fresh report from BRTF Task Force Commander PN Yadav and Office Commanding 83-RCC Rajendra Kumar demanding their personal appearance before the court which hold the responsibility of maintaining the stretch from 3.22 km to 222 km.
The court also sought fresh report from the state PWD about the present condition of the highway which hold the responsibility of maintaining the stretch upto 3.22 km.
The Court also sought report from National Highway Authority regarding the PIL.
The court further discussed to consider the prayer for constitution of a Committee and also for passing necessary order directing an enquiry by Vigilance Officer, Ministry of Road Transport and Highway, Government of India after examining the reports to be submitted the respondents.
