CCpur, July 16 2016 :
Several villagers along the Chura-Sugnu road contributed their own resources and assistance to repair the State-highway that has been virtually abandoned by the State Government for the past several years, reports our correspondent.
Rengkai-Saikot stretch, a road that was of repeated subject of pursuit for politicians but rarely materialised was repaired by the villagers after their pursuit for assistance proved futile.
'The villagers have extended their assistance and the village authority has bought three RCC cylinders from their own pockets to replace the damaged ones,' said one of the village authority members of Muolvaiphei village.
Chura-Sugnu road is not fit to be described as a highway as it is literally draped with mud.
Be it from the zero point opposite to Churachandpur PS or the tail end of the road in Sugnu, it resembles a river-side quarry, the village authority member said.
Village authority members of the area said they have sought help of their elected representatives as well as the district administration but claimed that they advised them to contact the PWD.
The PWD too expressed their helplessness due to lack of fund.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has today inaugurated an iron foot-bridge constructed over Lanva river.
