Imphal, May 13 2015 :
Cadres of SoO signatory UG group, Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF), have been located at 20 AR headquarters, Tengnoupal after their relocation at Hermon Camp was opposed.
At the same time, KNLF claimed that the designated camp of the outfit is not shifted, but its cadres were taken away from their camp by personnel of Dogra Regiment.
Personnel of 6 Dogra Regiment and Chandel district police reportedly took away 18 cadres of the KNO/KNLF along with arms from their designated camp located at Semol village under Khengjoy subdivision of Chandel district yesterday.
Police had a hard time trying to overcome a protest raised by some locals of Semol area yesterday when they resisted the attempt to take away the cadres of the KNLF.
Some people including four minors and 11 women threatened to accompany the cadres if they are to be shifted from their Semol designated camp.
Amid stiff opposition, the 18 KNLF cadres were taken away from their camp.
They reportedly reached Tengnoupal yesterday after dusk.
Meanwhile, cadres of KNA, UMLA and PRA who are already camped at Hermon Camp, Chehlep village strongly opposed the relocation of the KNLF cadres there, said a source.
Due to the objection, the 18 KNLF cadres are located at the headquarters of 20 AR at Tengnoupal.
It may be mentioned that some villagers of Sehao fled their village after two cadres of the KNLF assaulted five villagers and six labourers on May 9.They are taking shelter at BDO Khangbarol office.
In the meantime, speaking to this reporter over the phone, Lalmoi Haokip, general secretary of KNLF said that cadres of the outfit were taken away from their camp by the security forces and there is no incident of the outfit shifting their camp or their camp being shifted.
He said that their designated camp at Semol was set up with the consent of the MHA.
And there is no written intimation from the State Govt to shift the camp, he said.
Admitting that two of its cadres had committed a blunder in beating up villagers and some labourers, Lalmoi said the two cadres are already in police custody after they were handed over to the Dogra Regiment.
Pointing out that the designated camp was constructed by the outfit themselves, Lalmoi said that shifting the camp of the outfit for petty matter is not acceptable.
Saying that CM O Ibobi was present in person at the time the SoO pact was inked, Lalmoi said the State Govt should intervene in the matter.
He further warned of abrogating the peace pact in case unwarranted developments arise out of the incident.
At the same time, KSO Tengnoupal block in a statement issued by its president H Daniel Mate strongly opposed relocation of KNLF cadres at Hermon Camp.
