TPO meets on 'Roots'

The Tenyimi Peoples' Organisation, Nagaland, Manipur and Assam held its 20th General Conference at Multipurpose hall, Senapati.
The conference was hosted by the Naga Peoples' Organizations, Senapati under the motto of Unity, Peace and Progress with the theme "Roots" .
The conference was attended by about 500 delegates of the ten units of Angami, Zeliangrong, Chakhesang, Rengma, Pochury, Mao Poumai, Maram Thangal and Inpui Tribes.
The Tenyimi fraternities congregated to commemorate and celebrate the brotherhood, who share same ancestral roots from the family tree of Tenyimi.
"The blood brothers organisations formed with the objectives of preserving and protecting the Tenyimi people wherever they reside, the institute in itself is committed to work for the well being of the Tenyimi people.
As an organisation the Tenyimi People Organization is committed to work together for unity and harmony of the people and to take the Tenyimi people forward in every aspect.
The TPO Units have a genealogical lineage and affinity without political agenda, reorganised after a long gap of many generations under one umbrella in 1993," said the TPO President Keku Zeliang.
Dr Shiirhozelie Liezietsu, President, Ura Academy and President NPF was the chief guest and Prof Gangmumei Kamei, ex-Minister, Govt of Manipur, was the guest of honour.
The conference was chaired by RK Graceson.
The eminent dignitaries on the dais were Parliamentary members of Nagaland Govt, 10 Tenyimi Unit Presidents of Angami, Keningunyii Sekho-se; Chakhesang Public Orga- nisation Sovenyi; Inpui Hoho Kh Arie; Mao Council C Chakho; Maram Union K Raisung, Pochury Public Forum Ghachu Pochury; Pou- mai Naga Union Ng Lohrii; Rengma Hoho Sawathangn Keseb; Thangal Hoho H Khangba; Zeliangrong Baudi Rangsam, officials of the Tenyimi Peoples' Organization, Tenyimi Women Organization, United Naga Council, President L Adani and officials of Senapati District Women Association President A Lolia and representative of Senapati District Students Association, LR John and colleagues, local civil organizations, Political leaders, Social, Religious leaders and well wishers.
The conference set into motion by unveiling of the Monolith stone at the Senapati Public Ground by the chief guest Dr Shiirhozelie Liezietsu, President, Ura Academy and President NPF in the presence of other dignitaries.
Dr Shiirhozelie Liezietsu presented his view on the story, of the origin of the Nagas and the Tenyimi in particular.
A scholar and head of NPF, Dr Shiirhozelie gave a detailed account of the odyssey undertaken by the Nagas from Hedziima to the Mekhro village (Makhryra-bu).
Prof Gangmumei Kamei, ex-Minister, appreciated the coining of the term "Tenyimi Fraternity", as formation of many organizations disintegrates the Nagas as a whole.
The 2nd session of the conference was marked by cultural extravaganza wherein traditional dances of the Poumai, Zeliangrong and Inpui were showcased.
The Mao, Maram and Thangal presented their rich legacy through the traditional songs.
