MCS officer accused of sexual assault at large

An MCS officer accused of sexual assault on a woman is at large since the past one week after his pre-arrest bail application was rejected by the Sessions Court Imphal West on May 24 last.
Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West yesterday issued a warrant of arrest against the MCS officer identified as Salam Peter (32) s/o Dilipkumar of Babupara, Jiribam presently staying at Thangmeiband Kabrabam Leikai and Government quarter at Lamphel Sanakeithel.
According to sources, after the rejection of the accused's bail plea, Investigation Officer of the case went to his Thangmeiband residence and Government quarter for three/four times but could not find him in both the places.
Later women police station Imphal West sent an official letter to MAHUD Department seeking information of the accused to which the Department replied that the accused who is currently posted as District Collector of MAHUD and UBS is on leave.
Mention may be made that a 25-year-old woman lodged a complaint with the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West against the MCS officer on May 12 last alleging that the accused committed certain sexual acts against her from 2015 to 2016 .
The matter was forwarded to women police station Imphal West on the same day for investigation under Section 153 (3) of CrPC .
After registration of an FIR, Imphal West district police had hounded the accused's house and the quarter for two/three days but the whole family was out of station for attending a marriage ceremony in Jiribam.
