Inspire program inaugurated at Manipur University

A 10-day long Inspire internship programme for students of Manipur organised by Manipur University under the initiation of Department of Science and Technology (DST), government of India has been inaugurated today at Senate Hall of Earth Science Building, Manipur University.
Speaking as chief guest of the inauguration programme, Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya Singh said conduct of events based on science studies in the past few years had been encouraging upcoming generation to opt for science and related courses.
Noting that the internship programme for class XI and XII standard students numbering about 300 will be held in two phases upto June 10, the MP exhorted the participants to diligently follow instruction of subject experts.
Explaining that as science studies necessitates basic knowledge in mathematics, Dr Meinya also urged the student participants to work hard in solving mathematical problems.
former Manipur University Vice Chancellor Prof IS Khaidem, appreciated initiatives of the programme organisers emphasised on the need for more such event to promote studies in science streams.
Director of Kolkata-based Jagdish Bose National Science Talent Search Prof Papiya Nandy, who also spoke at the occasion informed the student participants that aim of organising the Internship Science Camp is to explore talent among the State students in order to groom them as scientists.
Among others, acting Vice Chancellor of Manipur University Prof H Nandakumar was also present at the inauguration programme.
