A-day long orientation programme on soil health management for farmers has been organised by Agriculture Dept of the State Govt at Elangkhanpokpi today.
More than 50 farmers attended the programme the inaugural function of which was graced by Additional Director of Agriculture Department L Palindro and Deputy Director (Planning) G Samu Kabui as presidium members.
Senior Assistant Professor Dr Kh Ibohal of Central Agriculture University and Associate Professor Dr A Herojit of the same University conducted the programme as resource persons.
Speaking at the inaugural function, L Palindro pointed out that agricultural activities is one such important profession that would remain relevant as long as human being exist.
So imparting knowledge of new technology on agriculture to the farmers is essential.
Keeping this in mind, the Agriculture Dept has been initiating various training programmes for the benefit of the farmers, he said, while appealing to the farmers to avail the benefits of these programmes and contribute their mite in the economic development of the State.
In continuation of the programme, the Agricultural scientists of the Dept have also conducted test on the sample of the soil collected from the paddy fields of the participating farmers.
