In unrelated incident two persons were killed in a Shaktiman accident that took place at Ukhrul district yesterday night, a 33 year old non-Manipuri succumbed at RIMS Hospital.
In the accident that occurred at Kangpak village under Chasad police station of Ukhrul district, two persons are said to have died and an unspecified number of persons who were travelling in the same vehicle sustained serious injuries.
However, there is no report of either the dead or injured brought to the district headquarters till today.
The non-Manipuri identified as Pradip Pal failed to recuperate at the hospital where he was admitted following electrocution at his eatery shop located at Kakwa Huidrom Leikai yesterday night.
The deceased is said to be from Coochbehar of West bengal.
The electrocution occurred while Pradip was drying clothes in a wire that was strung close to a power line.
PREPAK cadres held: Personnel of Imphal West Dist Police arrested three PREPAK activists from different parts of Imphal on October 25, said police.
In the first incident, police arrested two PREPAK cadres from Naoremthong Bazar yesterday afternoon at around 12.15.They have been identified as Thounaojam Boro alias Thong- len (27) s/o Th Jilla Singh of Kwakeithel Thiyam Leikai and Huirem Bobby Singh alias Premchandra (25) s/o (L) Lilando Singh of Uripok Takhellambam Leikai.
Another PREPAK cadre was also arrested by a team of Imphal West Dist police from Moirangkhom yesterday at around 10.30 pm.
The arrested man has been identified as Kangujam Abhiram Singh (37) s/o K Ibomcha Singh of Bashikhong Kitna Panung.
Body buried: The body recovered from Changoubung area under Kangpokpi police station on October 21 and laying unclaimed at RIMS mortuary till date has been disposed off today by Imphal Municipality personnel.
Hostel set ablaze: Unidentified miscreants set ablaze a boys hostel located at Taphou Rikhomei four kms south west of Senapati yesterday morning at around two am yesterday morning, said sources.
Properties worth Rs 3,71,600 was destroyed in the fire.
