New Delhi, October 26:
Identifying Manipur as a "priority area" for development, Centre today sanctioned Rs 200 crore for social welfare, health and infrastructure projects in the State.
The decision was taken after Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh called on Union Minister for Development of North-East PR Kyndiah here.
"The special funds for Manipur will be used for projects relating to water supply, education, power, health, transport and communication," Kyndiah told reporters later.
He said his Ministry was working on a plan to bring peace to North-East by development and generation of employment.
"We have analyzed a number of schemes and projects which will go a long way in achieving this objective," he said.
