Imphal, December 22 2012:
The proscribed UNLF has claimed its hand in the bomb attack which targeted a convoy of CRPF along Porompat DC road at about 10.30 am of December 19.A press release issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba said that the attack was carried out using claymore bomb by a small demolition team of the MPA.
Two claymore bombs were fitted on either side of the road about 30 feet apart.
Incidentally, when the CRPF's water tanker which happened to be the foremost vehicle of the convoy reached the spot where the first claymore bomb was fitted, a passenger vehicle overtook it.
Sensing that triggering the first bomb would inflict heavy casualties to innocent people, the bomb was not set off.
As the passenger vehicle had already moved past, the second claymore bomb was set off and it hit the CRPF's bullet-proof vehicle causing severe damages.
One civilian tanker driver was also injured.
Later, the first claymore was set off so that it did not fall into the hands of adversaries.
Had the passenger vehicle not crossed into, the CRPF convoy would have suffered full impact of the attack, said the outfit.
Conveying its regret over the injury suffered by civilian driver Mustaq Ahmad, the outfit appealed to all the people to stay away from the Indian military at all time.
The UNLF/MPA also condemned the bomb attack at the residence of a contractor at Liwa Lambi, Maibam Leikai recently which caused death and injuries to civilians.
Such criminal activities were mostly carried out by gangs set up by the Indian military and the alleged puppet Government.
People need to differentiate between these criminal gangs and revolutionary groups.
The outfit also condemned the act of molesting a film actress and firing at two other actors by NSCN-IM's Lt Col Livingstone.
It was an act of barbarism, not acceptable to any civilized society, it asserted.
NSCN-IM leadership have repeatedly exposed their feeling of enmity towards other indigenous communities.
This was glaringly evident when their cadres butchered SDO Kishan, Token and Rajen and orchestrated forced disappearance of Irabanta.
Until the NSCN-IM leadership, on their own volition, punish Livingstone in befitting manner to redress their own internal maladies, the present leadership can never guide the progressive Naga people.
All the Naga people, particularly those living in Chandel district, civil society organisations and human right defenders ought to condemn the recent outrage, it added.
