Gents' hostel at RIMS inaugurated

A 44-bedded PG Gents' Hostel No 2 was inaugurated on RIMS campus today by GR Khetrapal, deputy secretary (North East), Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Speaking briefly at the occasion, Khetrapal disclosed that a Rs 200 crore project will soon be launched in RIMS, according to a RIMS statement.
Accompanied by the Director, E Debendra Meitei, the deputy director (Administration), Prof Damayanti and others Khetrapal visited other construction sites.
The under graduate hostel having 120 capacity and the PG Gents hostel No 1 are progressing.
The double storied hostel of the internees having 50 capacity is also progressing satisfactorily.
The ground floor rooms will be inaugurated in February next year.
Khetrapal also visited the out patient department and others which are under construction at various places.
The construction of a 200 bedded hostel of the nursing students is also progressing satisfactorily, the statement said.
Prof Damayanti said that as the strength of the post graduate students had been increased to 150 from 75 per year there has been acute shortage of accommodation.
RIMS is happy that the problem is being solved partially.
Prof Sekharjit said that hectic efforts are on for providing accommodation to the students from outside the state.
Earlier Khetrapal, Sekharjit and Damaynati planted saplings near the site of the College of Nursing building, it added.
