Giving a detailed account of the incident, the Tungjoy Village Council stated that around 50 armed people of Khezhakheno in Nagaland along with Nagaland Armed Police intruded into Zekhao in Tungjoy village on July 21 at about 6.30 am.
Four persons including a woman were abducted by the marauders, said the village Council in a statement and added that the woman was released later.
The three men were severely beaten up, alleged the Council.
The marauders also burnt down one Shaktiman (MN03T-0740) belonging to one PL Dani of Tungjoy village besides damaging cabbage farms.
Stating that situation is still very tense, the Council said that the land dispute between Tungjoy village in Senapati district of Manipur and Khezhakheno, Phek district of Nagaland dates back to the early part of the 19th century and the same case remains unsettled till date.
The Government of Nagaland has taken a keen interest for the welfare of its people by setting up an outpost of NAP, rest camp, dams, tree plantation with fencing, construction of road and electrification on the disputed land, which is unlawful, maintained the Council.
On the other hand, the Government of Manipur has not taken up any steps despite the repeated appeals from the people to provide security and ensure protection of the people, alleged the Council.
