Chingai feels heat of deficient rain

The deficient rainfall from late monsoon arrival has not only affected the farmers in the plains, but also those in the hills with paddy fields remaining dried.
The paddy fields in Chingai A/C under Ukhrul district have also felt the heat of deficient rains hitting the state.
In a tete-a-tete with Hueiyen Lanpao, MLA of Chingai A/C Preshaw Shimray said with insufficient rain,the farmers in Chingai are apprehensive of possible famine next year.
Preshow Shimray informed that there would be no possibility of planting paddy now in colder areas of Chingai A/C.Similarly, in areas where the climate is relatively hotter, paddy plants would not bear any fruit if the plantation is done by July 28.These areas include Chingai, Khuingai, Tushom, Sorapung, Kharasom, Marim, Paowi, Chingjaroi, Paorei, northern parts of Phungjam village, Kakai, Pume, Tora, Champhung, Maichon and Phungthar.
