NIPCO presents Gaan Ngai gifts

Taking full participation in the Gaan Ngai celebration, a post-harvest festival, of the Zeliangrong community, National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) has presented various gifts including eatable and clothing items.
On the fourth day of the five-day long celebration today, an official team of NIPCO led by its president L Khupler Kom took full participation in the celebration at Nambol Oinam Kabui village.
At the occasion, volunteers of NIPCO came carrying Athenpots for presentation to the villagers, who dressed in their traditional attires welcomed them warmly.
Along with an official team of NIPCO coming to participate in Gaan Ngai celebration, a simple function was also organised with ex-Minister Y Jiten as chief guest, Khullakpa of Oinam Kabui village K Manihar Kabui as functional president and president of NIPCO L Khupler Kom as guest of honour.
After the function began along with performing the traditional ritual of Yupan-Thaba, NIPCO officials presented traditional scarves to each of the village elders.
Young boys and girls of the village also presented dances to welcome the visitors.
Speaking at the occasion, NIPCO president L Khupler Kom pointed out that NIPCO has been participating in the festivals of various communities living in the State with the main objective of promoting the culture and tradition of all these communities equally.
Vice president of NIPCO Sunil Karam observed Manipur is a home to different groups of people with different different culture and tradition.
