Theatre complex, shop, gutted in blazing inferno

In two separate incidents, one theatre complex and a shop have been gutted in different parts of the State over the last 24 hours.
In the first incident, the theatre research and production complex of Khenjonglang, a theatre group, located at Keirao Khunou Awangching in Imphal East district was ravaged in a fire late evening today.
The fire broke out at around 6 pm today.
Ninety percent of the complex constructed with wood, CI sheet and hay have been destroyed in the fire.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
Since the theatre complex has been constructed atop a mount of about 500 metre high, most portion of the complex have been gutted in the fire when the people of the surrounding area rushed in to put out the fire.
Timely arrival of the Fire Service personnel managed to save the complex from complete devastation.
In the second incident, properties worth more than 5 lakhs have been reportedly gutted in a fire that broke out in a garment shop at Paona Bazar, Imphal last night.
The fire that broke out in Toto Garment House at around 11.30 pm yesterday was suspected to have been caused by faulty short circuit.
Blankets, cushions and other garment items worth around Rs 5.50 lakhs kept inside the shop were claimed to have been gutted in the fire.
However, an official estimate is yet to be worked out.
Two fire tenders of the Fire Service were pressed into service in controlling and putting off the fire spreading to the nearby shops.
