Dr Nimaichand said that Tirnamool Congress and their candidate K Sarat appealed to the MPP to support him in the upcoming by-election to Konthoujam A/C.In addition to the appeal from the side of TC, MPP is of the opinion that all like minded political parties should work together in support of K Sarat in order to defeat the Congress candidate.
The MPP president further stated due initiatives would be taken up for to form a political alliance of non-Congress parties with a view to the next Assembly elections.
A meeting of the MPP working committee will be held on February 26 during which party's budget for 2011-12 would be tabled, Dr Nimaichand informed.
On the other hand, a press release issued by the spokesman of TC informed that consultations with non-Congress parties to defeat the Congress candidate have been completed.
For the next Assembly elections, the party has kept its door wide open to form a pre-poll alliance, it said.
It is reported that Janata Dal (United) may extend all possible assistance if any of the like-minded parties put up their candidate in the by-election.
