Clash erupts inside RJD

A major rift in the Rastriya Janata Dal (RJD) Manipur has threatened the future of the party in the State with two disident camps leveling charges against each other over explusion drama in the party.
On January 18, 2011, three high level functionaries of RJD namely Limjalet Haokip, vice president in-charge Hills, MH Yaiphaba, general secretary and T Nenei, secretary in-charge Hills were expelled from the party without issuing prior show cause notice and against the rule of the party by K Kumarjit, vice president and president in-charge of the party allegedly for appointing seven high level posts in the party.
Informing the media today at the party's office in Babupara in Imphal, the three rebel partymen said that the charges leveled agaisnt them is "unfounded" and "unresonable" and that the intervention of the party high comand will be sought wihout which the party in the state faces being disolved in the near future.
"Since we were expelled without any prior show cause notices, which is agaisnt the party's norm, we will approach the party high comand for action against K Kumarjit", they said.
RJD was reorganised on August 1, 2010 in which Yamkhomang Haokip was elected as its president.
He has not attended the party's office since then, same is the case with the vice president and president in-charge Kumarjit.
We are the only three who are regular in office, alleged the dissident partymen and said that since Kumajit himself is a vice president, he has no right to expell another vice president (Limjalet).
The three partymen went on to allege that senior party leaders received money amounting to Rs.3.65 lakh to have the expulsion against MLA Ngursaglur revoked but the case agaisnt Thangkholun was not revoke bacause he did not pay the money bargained for.
Limjalet Haokip on his part has clarified that the he was only acting on the behest of the party president in the appointment of seven high level posts of the party and that the charges leveled agaisnt him that he had acted without due consultation and knowledge of the president and the vice president is unfounded and erronous.
Speaking seperately to the media, K Kumarjit confirmed that the charges levelled agaisnt the three partymen were the reason for the expulsion but went on to add that they were also guilty of organisation party businessess unilaterally without due consultation with the president and the vice president of the party.
He went on to say that the expulsion was carried out with due order from the president and that another RJD MLA Halauddin would also be expelled from the party for disobeying the party whips.
