Protest against pradhan killing marched at Nambol

Residents of Nambol area tonight marched a rally to protest killing of the pradhan, Chungkham Gambhir of Kakyai on January 10 last.
The rally kicked started from Kakyai Tona Kangjeibung and converged at the same place after marching in the surrounding area of Nambol carried out after a public meeting at the same place in the evening.
The meeting resolved, among other, to press the state government to pay compensation to the family of the deceased Gambhir and also a government job to a family member.
It also resolved to insist local MLA and minister N Loken to fulfill the demand of the people before the sharda ceremony of the deceased.
Chungkham Gambhir Singh, the pradhan of Kakyai Gram Panchayat of Bishnupur district was shot dead by miscreants suspected to be underground activists after calling out from his fish farm on the night of January 10 last.
Four activists of the KCP (Military Task Force) allegedly behind the killing of a pradhan have been arrested by the Bishnupur police commandos during a counter insurgency operation at Govindagram under Bishnupur police station on last Wednesday.
One Ak-56 rifles with 10 live rounds in a magazine was recovered from the possession of one of the four activists identified as Khondram Joy (35) son of Birmangol of Luorembam, Khondram Jiten Singh (38) son of late Ibotombi of same village with the former, Tourem Hero (35) son of T Laxman of Givindagram Awang Leikai and Namoijam Pocha Singh (32) son of N Thambal of same village with the third one.
An official source said that during the course of interrogation police came to know that they were involved in the killing of the pradhan, Chungkham Gambir on January 10.Nambol police station where a case regarding the killing was registered has taken into custody of four activists along with the seized items for further investigation.
