Imphal, July 20 2009:
Following the permission granted by the Tis Hajari Court, Delhi , MLA of Andro Assembly Constituency Th Shyamkumar, who is being detained under judicial custody, attended the session of the ongoing Manipur Legislative Assembly today.
Along with special security provided by the jail authority, Shyamkumar came to participate in the session of the Assembly and sat on the Opposition bench.
He is to appear in Tis Hajari Court on July 31 again.
Talking to mediapersons after the morning session of the Assembly, Shyamkumar said he is being detained under judicial custody in connection with two different cases registered against him by the Delhi Police and the Imphal Police Station and he came to participate in the Assembly session at the permission of the Delhi court.
Shyamkumar informed that he had been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
However, as his health condition improved, he was discharged from the hospital on July 16.The MLA further said he would participate in the discussion of the issues related to development of his Assembly Constituency.
In connection with his suspension from the primary membership of MPP, Shyamkumar asserted that suspension without giving any show cause notice to him was unfair and smacks ignorance of rules and regulations of the party.
''Being an elected MLA of MPP, I should remain in MPP'', he contended.
Shyamkumar went on to clarified that he had not received any complaint in connection with the allegation of rigging in Andro Assembly Constituency during the last Lok Sabha election and he was surprised by such founded charges.
If the charges are based on the number of votes secured by MPP, then the two party leaders from Patsoi and Langthabal Assembly Constituencies who have been outscored by candidates of other parties should also be suspended, he said, adding that as an MLA he feels ashame of the complaint lodged to the Election Commission without any evidences.
Shyamkumar also said whether his detention in the judicial custody is on alleged charge having nexus with the UGs or not would be known after the trial is over.
