Over 30 UG groups exist in state

The underground outfit, Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) has ten factions, said Chief Minister, O Ibobi.
He also informed the members of state legislative assembly that more than 30 militant groups are operating in the state.
Giving reply to a starred questioned asked by opposition member of the House, Morung Makunga, independent, the chief minister said currently more than 30 militant groups are operating in Manipur.
Out of them, 19 hill based organizations under the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) having 11 umbrella organizations and United People's Front (UPF) having eight umbrella organizations are maintaining suspension of operation (SoO) with the security forces and state police, he said.
Government is on hectic process for issue of the identity cards to the cadres of the 19 Kuki militant groups, Ibobi said adding that all the require funds spend in providing lodging of the cadres at designated camps and monthly stipends to them incurred by the Manipur government will be refunded by the Centre under the security related expenditure scheme of the Union ministry of home affairs.
Among them eight, United National Liberation Front (UNLF), People's Liberation Army (PLA), Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), United People's Party of Kangleipak (UPPK), Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council)- (KCP (MC) and People's United Liberation Front (PULF) are valley based ones.
Among them, ten factions of the KCP, KCP (Noyon), KCP(MC)-Lanheiba Meetei, KCP(MC)-Lanjaba Meetei, KCP (Lamphel0, KCP (City Meetei), KCP (Kokkai), KCP (Nando), KCP (KK Nganba), KCP(MC)-Ningamba and KCP(MC)-Lallumba are also operating.
The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (IM)-NSCN/IM, National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K)- NSCN/K, Kuki National Organization (KNO)-having 11 umbrella organizations, United People's Front (UPF)-having eight umbrella organizations, Naga National Council (NNC) and Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) are the hill based militant outfits, he added.
Some other smaller groups are also coming up in the state.
Among them, the United Naga People's Council (UNPC), the Komrem People's Army (KRPA), the Kuki Revolutionary Front (KRF) and the Sinlung People's Liberation Army (Sinlung Tiger Force) (SPLA/STF are hill based while Kangleipak People's Liberation Army (KPLA), a faction of the PULF Azad group is a valley based outfit, the chief minister added.
