Legal awareness programme held

A one day legal awareness programme organised jointly by Legal Services Authority, Bishnupur district and Lourembam Maning Leikai Women's Welfare Association, Nambol was held at Lourembam Maning Leikai community hall, Nambol today.
Organised under the theme "Police & Public Relations, Cyber Crimes and PDS & NREGS", the programme was attended by N Kipgen, District and Session Judge, Bishnupur, Oinam (O) Ibemhal Devi, treasurer, Lourembam Maning Leikai Women's Welafre Association, Binny Ngangom, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bishnupur, Lourembam Shanti Singh, Principal, Jovial Bellona English School, Irom Meijrao and Yumnam Kullabidhu Singh, Ward member, Lourembam Maning Leikai.
During the programme, resource persons K Meghachandra Singh, Additional SP (LO), Bishnupur, P Premchand Singh, Advocate, Manipur High Court, Y Ramananda Singh, Advocate, Manipur High Court spoke on topics relating to police and public relations, cyber crimes, PDS & NREGS.
In his speech, K Meghachandra said that various steps and training programmes have been organised for the police forces with emphasise on creating a more cordial relation between the public and the police forces.
Seeking legal assistance instead of undertaking a demonstration in any issue will comparatively minimise occurrence of unwanted incidents, Meghachandra said.
He added that an individual who has committed a cyber crime is punishable by law and such crime should be reported to the nearest police station.
