Imphal, May 18 2015 :
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has strongly condemned the killing of a class XII student of NG Mani Hr Sec School, Konsam Korounganba s/o Konsam Rajen of Khurai Konsam Leikai by Lamlai PS commandos yesterday around 6.30 pm at Kangla Sangomsang.
The incident happened after the deceased along with friends reportedly refused to stop their vehicle when asked to do so by the police personnel.
General secretary of AMSU, Manjit Sarangthem in a press meet at AMSU HQs said that such inhuman action of police personnel against innocent civilians has crossed the limit and every section of the society must condemn it.
He added that many civilians have lost their lives and the police are not authorised to kill someone for not stopping when asked to do.
The moral of all the police personnel should be righted and overhauling them is a must, Manjit added.
Stating that the right to life is being questioned every moment here in the State, the authorities concerned should take up prompt action against such attitude of the police, said Manjit.
AMSU urged the Police Department to book the culprits at the earliest and take up legal action against them before another upheaval erupts in the State.
He also added that the students' body will support any action taken up by the JAC in connection with the incident in seeking justice.
As a mark of protest against such a cold blooded killing, a mass sit in will be held at all schools tomorrow, added Manjit.
