Imphal, February 14 2013:
Outer MP Thangso Baite has asserted that BJP, despite all its efforts, would never succeed in winning public support in the next Parliamentary election.
Speaking to some media persons at his official quarters at Lamphelpat today, Thangso Baite wondered as to how BJP can fight the Parliamentary election in Manipur where they do not have a single MLA.
BJP would never be able to win confidence and sympathy from the people of Manipur, he asserted.
He also ruled out any chance of BJP-led NDA coming to power at the Centre.
Moreover, BJP cannot win majority in any of the three Northeastern States which are going to polls this month.
To a query, the MP stated that Congress party would like that next parliamentary election is held when it is no due and the party is in no hurry to form any pre-poll alliance.
Congress party has fear to contest any election and the party is always well prepared to face any election though the AICC has not spoken a single word on the matter.
Talking about Inner Line Permit System (ILPS), the Outer MP claimed that the Government of India has been studying feasibility of re-introducing ILPS in Manipur.
Pointing out that the State Assembly has already adopted a resolution in favour of re-introducing ILPS in Manipur, the MP exuded that the Centre would act in line with the wish of the people of Manipur.
Observing that the BRO's performance on Imphal-Jiribam highway is far from satisfactory, Thangso Baite said that he has already written a letter and highlighted the matter to the Ministry of Road Transport.
However, as no other company is willing to work in Manipur on account of the prevailing law and order situation, the Ministry of Road Transport has no option but keep the highway under BRO's care, Thangso conveyed as stated by the Ministry.
