Imphal, March 13 2011:
Decrying the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh's comment at the floor of the assembly on the issue of recruitment of primary school teachers, All Manipur DPC Faced Candidates' Association for Primary Teachers 2006 has announced that intense agitation would be launched against the SPF Government.
Speaking to newspersons at Manipur Press Club here today, Association spokesman Kangujam Raghumani recounted publication of what a particular Imphal-based daily claimed as the DPC list of the recruitment result.
Further reminding that the Chief Minister as well as the then Education Minister L Jayantakumar had on numerous occasions asserted that the said DPC list would not be acceptable, the spokesman described as ridiculous announcement by the Chief Minister in the ongoing Assembly session that the candidates named in same DPC list would be appointed on contract basis for an 11 month period.
Referring to the CM's assertion, he expressed suspicion that the Government is trying to gain political mileage on the issue by delighting certain individuals inspite of the fact that the SPF Government went on record to declare that an enquiry is underway on the newspaper report.
It may be noted that on March 11, O Ibobi had informed members of the State Assembly that as a temporary arrangement candidates recommended by the DPC panel in 2006 and enlisted in the daily's publication would be given appointment on contract basis for 11 months.
Observing that in case the Government is sincere all the candidates who faced the DPC should have been either entertained in the contract basis appointment scheme or a fresh DPC conducted, Raghumani termed that CM's stand on the issue as an invitation for anti-Government agitation.
He further claimed that failure to respond positively on the Association's proposal would compel the body to stand against the Congress-led Government and launch campaign for defeat of Congress candidates in the next general elections.
The spokesman also described recent reshuffle by the SPF Government and removal of Jayantakumar from the Education Minister portfolio as a ploy to cover up alleged misconduct by Jayantakumar.
