Imphal, November 10 2011:
RJD Manipur unit has stated that it welcomed the BJP's proposal to send an all-party delegation to Manipur to take stock of the prevailing situation in Manipur.
Speaking to media persons today, RJD state president in-charge Prof K Kumarjit asserted that the chronic problems of bandhs and blockades plaguing Manipur for the past many years are results of the flawed policies of the State's Home Department.
He decried the Government of Manipur's alleged failure to take up any remedial measures when the people have been enduring untold misery for the last 100 days.
Observing that the Union Minister did nothing to get the blockade lifted during his recent visit to the State, Kumarjit asked if the Union Government and the State Government have been indirectly supporting the blockades.
He also questioned the State Government's failure to deploy security forces in hill areas in adequate strength.
Pointing out the Supreme Court has issued a ruling declaring that bandh and blockades are illegal whereas the Government has not initiated a single step to end or neutralise the blockades, he alleged that the incumbent Government is as good as dead.
He also expressed full support to the BJP's proposal to send an all-party delegation to Manipur to collect first hand account of the situation.
He recalled that RJD candidates were victorious in three Assembly constituencies in the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections.
He further declared that RJD would field candidates in at least 45 Assembly segments in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Informing that RJD president and fofmer Bihar CM Lalu Prasad would come to the State to campaign for the party, Kumarjit exuded that RJD would win at least 10 seats in the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections.
