Cabinet to study assets declaration

The State Cabinet is set to discuss the matter of asking its Council of Ministers to declare their assets to the public, stated SPF spokesperson N Biren.
Talking to The Sangai Express, Biren informed that the Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by Revenue Minister Th Debendra has recommended declaration of Ministers' and MLAs' assets to the public.
The same recommendation would be studied in a meeting of the State Cabinet.
But the spokesperson refused to name any definite time period for declaration of assets belonging to Ministers and MLAs.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee which looked into the matter of declaring assets was constituted at the instruction of the Union Home Ministry.
Talking about the shortage of petroleum products in the State, Biren informed that the Government has taken up necessary measures to enhance transportation of diesel and petrol by suspending transportation of kerosene for certain period.
He also informed that necessary measures have been taken in consultation with the Chief Minister to bring in the 60 loaded tankers currently stranded at Jiribam and also to send 160 empty trucks to Assam with security escorts.
He further conveyed that the IOC has been asked to take up punitive actions against transporters who did no go fuel oil transportation in time.
