Imphal, September 04 2020:
The Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council has categorically stated that suspending question hour of the impending monsoon session of Parliament is an effort to conceal the lapses of the Government.
A press release issued by CPI also stated that the initiative will undermine the Parliamentary privileges given to MPs of both the houses (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) .
As a convention, all the questions that may be raised during the question hour should be made available to the concerned authorities 15 days before the commencement of the session, said CPI, adding that there are also no fixed hours for conducting a Parliamentary session.
Giving only 4 hours a day for house meetings in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha is also a ploy of the Government to pass Bills moved by the Treasury bench without any debate, it claimed.
The left party further stated that suspending the crucial question hour is contradictory to the assurance given by the ruling Government and certain Chief Ministers of transparent governance.
