Imphal, September 04 2020:
The Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi-AMN (LNKR) and Liangmai Pui Naga Ruangdi (LPNR) have appealed to the State Government and department concerned to terminate the Commando personnel who shot Ab Kaidihemang, about 30 years (at the time of the incident) on June 13, 2010, from his post.
The two bodies also urged the State Government to provide service to one 'victim's' kin.
In a joint statement, LNKR and LNPR claimed that Ab Kaidihemang was grievously shot from a service rifle without any provocation by one police commando on that fateful day.
Ab Kaidihemang received a bullet wound to his left shoulder and chest, it said.
The two bodies claimed that two vehicles levelled as Imphal West CDO fled away from the spot after knowing that one man was injured.
Though the victim was hospitalized for over a month, the bullet injury caused him total paralysis from chest to toe, claimed LNKR and LNPR.
Saying that the victim is being attended by family members days and nights since the incident, the two bodies said that the family is facing huge financial strain.
He was the main bread earner and looked after his aged parents, it said.
Further stating the victim does not get any benefit and compensation till date, the statement claimed that the then Imphal West SP convinced the victim family and villagers not to call agitation by promising that the victim's kin will be given a Government service to look after the victim.
However, the assurance is still unfulfilled till today, they claimed.
Further demanding the termination of the accused commando personnel from his service and to punish him according to the law of the land, the bodies urged all concerned to give monetary assistance to the victim's family and provide a service to a victim's kin.
LNPR and LNKR also appealed to all human rights agencies, related NGOs, human right activists, Civil Societies and right-thinking persons to raise their voices in unison to curb out gun culture from 'our society' .
