Fire personnel in rescue act

"Had not Fire Service personnel arrived in time, all my family members including myself would have perished in the devastating fire," said Kashi Basu who was rescued in time by fire fighters.
A raging fire which broke out from a tyre workshop at Thangal Bazar, Khoyathong Road engulfed Basu's godown as well as his living room at about 4.30 this morning.
The whole family was trapped by the roaring fire and they were at their wit's end, not knowing how to escape the inferno.
Kashi Basu who is running M/S Auto Servicing Centre at Thangal Bazar, Khoyathong road said that he jumped out from his bed when he heard somebody shouting about the fire.
When he ran out, Kashi found his staircase engulfed with smoke.
As he was running to and fro inside his room without knowing what to do, L Nabachandra in-charge of the fire service team jumped in and evacuated Kashi.
Then the fire service team ran up and closed the door which was opened by Kashi in order to keep out smoke from the room.
After this, all the family members of Kashi were evacuated one by one.
"Had the fire service team not arrived in team, all my family would have perished due to suffocation", Kashi said.
Goods worth around Rs 10 lakhs kept in his godown were also destroyed by the fire.
According to information received from Fire Service, the devastating fire originated from a tyre workshop and goods worth around Rs 5 lakhs kept inside the workshop were also reduced to cinders.
The proprietor of the devastated workshop has been identified as one Th Bodhachandra of Lalambung Makhong.
