Dr Chaltonlien calls for amity

"In addition to safeguarding the territorial integrity of the state, there is the need for amity among the different groups of people if we want peace and development in Manipur", Chairman of Hill Areas Committee of Manipur Legislative Assembly and MLA of Tipaimukh Assembly Constituency Dr Chaltonlien Amo has observed.
He was speaking at a series of reception functions hosted in his honour by people of the Constituency on May 1 and 2.On May 1, the reception functions were hosted at Pherjol, Taithu and Parbung Headquarters and at Senvon and other surrounding villages on May 2 .
Stressing on the need for paying attention to improvement of facilities for health, education, drinking water supply and economy in remote areas of the state, Dr Chaltonlien also advised the district level officers for bringing their heads together in this regard under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioners concerned.
Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur district Jacintha Lazarus, who was also present in these reception functions, observed that the district administration has been paying special attention to ensure development of the remote areas in the district.
Zonal Education Officer of Churachandpur Joseph L announced that an athletic meet for the school children of Churachandpur would be organised from May 9 to 11 .
Appealing to the parents to send their children for participation in this athletic meet, he informed that all the expenses for travelling and lodging would be borne by the government.
During these reception functions which were also accompanied by other district level officers, exercise books and other stationery items for students were also distributed among the school authorities.
On the other hand, for the first time, a meeting of the district level officers of Churachandpur was convened at Parbung on May 2.The meeting discussed various issues related to development of the district particularly the villages located in far long areas.
