In a co-incidence of a sort, two Assam Rifles personnel of 9th Bn stationed here early today died from heart attacks.
The deceased are identified as Havildar Prem Thapa, 40, a native of Arunachal Pradesh and Havildar Zagund Singh, 42, from Haryana.
Sources from the Assam Rifles claimed that Thapa collapsed at around 5.30 am at 9 AR Hqs located at Khuga Dam while Singh too collapsed at 57 Sector Hqtrs at Tiubuang..
Lt Col Sandeep Singh, second in command of the Batallion, ruled out any foul play in both cases.
'It is undeniable that every jawans worked under stress, but there is nothing that could entail the immediate cause of the deaths except that they were a little obsessed' he said.
The Colonel also said it was the first instances that his personnel have encountered such a tragic fate after being deployed in this insurgency ridden state.
