A mass rally was taken out today from Andro Bazar to Yairipok police station against the alleged rape and murder of 10 year old Shamjetshabam Ichal (Thambaltombi) on December 17 at a place at Nongmaiching hills.
The rallyists also demanded the immediate arrest of the murderers.
A public meeting held later resolved to launch intense agitation if the authority fails to book the culprits by January 10.

The rallyists held festoons and placards denouncing the murder besides shouting various slogans like, "Book the Culprits", "The murderers of innocent children are enemies of the people", "No one should forfeit the right to live", "Punish the savage killers", "Don't victimise women" etc.
After arriving at Yairipok police station at about 1.30 pm, the rallyists staged a sit-in-protest in front of the police station.
Apprehensive of untoward incidents, the police personnel locked the gate from inside and no personnel dared to venture outside.
After shouting several slogans condemning the murder and failure of the State Police to book the culprits, the rallyists went to Yairipok Azad High School ground where they held a public meeting.
The meeting was presided by the president of the All Yairipok United Clubs' Organisation Dr M Rajendra and president of the All Andro Apunba Meira Paibi Lup Sh Manglembi.
Addressing the gathering Nolini of AMKIL, Memchoubi of Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, Taruni of Nupi Samaj, Ch Pratima of Ireibak Chanura Apunba Lup and Sh Chaoren of the JAC condemned in the strongest term the rape and murder of Ichal while appealing to authorities concerned to help book the culprits at the earliest.
They also pledged unstinted support to all the movements launch by the JAC.
After making serious deliberations on the incident, the meeting adopted resolutions to urge the State Government to book the culprits by January 10 and to launch more intense form of agitation together with the people of Manipur in case the State Government fail to pull up the murderers by the deadline set.
