PWF donates to AMWJU relief fund

The Paomee Welfare Foundation (PWF), a charitable trust set up by the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU), has decided to donate Rs 1 lakh to AMWJU's Covid Relief Fund.
According to a statement of PWF, the decision was taken during its board meeting on Thursday (May 27) .
The board also approved the recommendation of the medical board that fixed the amount of assistance for the phase-2 of the welfare scheme of the working journalists, the Medical Financial Assistance (MFA), for the 5 beneficiaries totalling Rs 1,75,000 (Rupees one lakh seventy-five thousand), it added.
With the end of the MFA scheme for 2020-21, PWF, on the other hand, has invited applications from bonafide past and present journalists to apply for assistance for Phase-1 of the scheme for 2021-22, eligible for treatment expenses incurred between April 1 and September 31, 2021 .
According to PWF, the 5 journalists who received financial assistance are Angom Opendro of Paojel (Rs 75,000); Soraisham Dhaneshor Singh of Naharolgi Thoudang (Rs 40,000); Thongam Premchand of Poknapham (Rs 25,000); Sanjay Wangjamcha of The People's Chronicle (Rs 20,000) and Huidrom Netaji Singh of Kangla Pao (Rs 15,000) .
Chongtham Bilanta Singh of Naharolgi Thoudang also applied for the MFA scheme for 2020-21, however, his application was turned down as reapplication from the previous benefactress is not open as of now, the PWF apprised.
