Lamka, April 15 2011:
In a fresh twist over the alleged torture of Churachandpur District Students Union (CDSU) volunteers by the Assam Rifles on April 11, the district apex students' body today said it would fight 'this issue' to the end, unless and until the concerned officer apologies and the Assam Rifles owns up the misconduct of its officer.
"The Assam Rifles should do some soul searching and behave like a responsible dignified force", said the CDSU in a statement.
It also declared their resolve to fight the issue to the end.
"Unless and until the concerned officer of the 46 AR apologies to the CDSU, at the earliest and accept responsibility like a true soldier that he has done wrong, and the AR as a force owns up to the misconduct off its officer, the CDSU will not relent", it added.
With a four point poser wherein, it said the AR motto sounds rather hollow; that the AR should learn to mind their own business; not meddle in public order; keep themselves within the parameters and role define for them by the Constitution The union said, "Let it be known to the AR, that in the interest of the hill people, the chakka bandh as a means of protest against the shifting of NIOS exam centre out of the town area to a remote outskirt locality of the district from the start has been called, imposed or enforced by the CDSU alone and no one else.
The CDSU as a matured organization has been harbouring the hope that the 46 AR would be bold and responsible enough to initiate steps to solve the April 11 misunderstanding.
Contrary to their anticipation, the AR reacted otherwise, it said.
I added, the apex student body has many better things to do than trying to defame the Central paramilitary force.
