Chakkouba greetings

Governor Gurbachan Jagat, Chief Minister O Ibobi and Most Rev Dominic Lumon, DD, The Archbishop of Imphal have extended heartiest greetings to the people of the State on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
"Ningol Chakkouba, a unique festival of the Meitei community, observed on the second day of the new moon of Hiyangei rejuvenates family relations and bolsters the bond of love and affection between married sisters and brothers," the Governor noted in his greeting message.
Conveying happiness that the ethos of this festival has been appreciated by other communities and the festival being celebrated with other communities, Gurbachan observed that it brings about understanding among the various communities and helps in preserving and promoting unity and integrity in the society.
While maintaining that the festival of Ningol Chakkouba promotes the feelings of peaceful coexistence and harmonious social life by reaffirming faith in the traditional values of love and protection, CM O Ibobi called upon the people to imbibe the ideals associated with the festival to foster the spirit of amity harmony and goodwill among the people.
Wishing the people of the State, especially Meitei community, a very happy and joyous Ningol Chakkouba, Most Rev Dominic Lumon prayed that the celebration strengthen the bond of love and unity among all the families living in the State.
