Rahul Gandhi to arrive in December

All India Congress Committee general secretary Rahul Gandhi will arrive here to attend a forthcoming State Convention on Flagship Programmes scheduled to be held in the first week of December month, said Deputy chief Minister Gaikhangam.
Gaikhangam, who also holds the Home portfolio announced the proposed arrival of the Gandhi scion to newspersons on the sidelines of the 123rd birth anniversary celebration of India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru at Congress Bhavan today.
The deputy CM led the gathering in offering floral tributes at the portrait of Jawaharlal Nehru at Congress Bhavan followed by laying of wreath at the statue of the late premier at Kangla western gate.
According to the Deputy CM, arrival of the AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi here is to attend the State Convention on local self governance and discussion on 16 point flagship programmes.

stating that the said programme was actually scheduled to be held on November 2 but deferred owing to pre-occupation of the Chief Minister in other important matters, Gaikhangam informed that the discussion programme for Ministers, party MLAs and representatives of local bodies would focus on different welfare projects such as MGNREGS, PMGSY.
Appealing to the United Naga Council to withdraw its call to the Naga fraternity for boycotting the upcoming Manipur Sangai Festival, he said that the Festival aimed at promoting tourism industry stands to benefit all the people of Manipur.
Gaikhangam also highlighted that the event is also an opportunity for the Naga community to showcase their rich and diverse cultures.
He also appealed to every section of the society to desist from calling bandh or blockade in view of the festive season.
