KNO/KRA (U) chairman shot dead

Chairman of KNO/KRA (U), a SoO signatory group, has been shot dead by unknown miscreants this morning at around 7.30 near Khengjang cemetery under Gamnom Sapormeina police station.
The deceased has been identified as Paokhothang alias Thangboi Chongloi (38) s/o (L) Thangkhosei Chongloi of Khengjang village.
According to a family source, on learning that one villager of their neighbouring village K Lhangnom died yesterday night, Paokhothang visited the family of the deceased this morning.
However, he returned to his village after he came to know on reaching K Lhangnom village that the deceased would be buried at his temporary residence at Sapormeina.
Unfortunately, on the way to his house, some unknown armed miscreants shot him near a cemetery.
After he managed to reach the cemetery, some villagers rushed him to a nearby hospital but he died on the way, added the source.
Gamnom Sapormeina police deposited the body at RIMS morgue for post mortem examination in the afternoon.
In the meantime, another bullet riddled body of a male was recovered from near Koubru Leikha at around 12.35 pm this afternoon.
Later, the deceased was identified by his family members at the police station as Kamminlal Chongloi (36), s/o (L) Limsat Chongloi of K Lhangnom village and residing at Sapormeina.
Interestingly, the deceased was said to be the person whom the KNO/ KRA (U) chairman visited after hearing the news of his demise at K Lhangnom village.
According to Kamminlal's wife Chochong, three unknown persons who came in an auto rickshaw yesterday at their temporary residence took her husband away stating that their leader wanted to talk to him.
As Kamminlal did not return home till late night, his family enquired his whereabouts to everybody who knew him.
However, nobody could tell his whereabouts, she added.
At around 11 this morning, Kamminlal's family got a message from one unknown phone number stating his body has been abandoned at a place between Sapormeina and Koubru Leikha, near NH-2 .
Chochong said that she is clueless about the killers of her husband while asking the perpetrators to come out and spell out the reason why they killed her husband.
Meanwhile, another unconfirmed source said that the man who was found dead near Koubru Leikha was a cadre of KRA (U), a SoO signatory group under UPF.
Later, Gamnom Sapormeina police deposited the body at RIMS morgue for post mortem examination.
At RIMS morgue, police and families of both the deceased could not provide any detailed information about the two incidents.
