Dismissing as baseless the proscribed RPF's allegation that security forces threatened villagers, a PIB (DW) statement said inspite of a security force personnel getting killed in a bomb blast triggered by the outfit's armed wing PLA, Assam Rifles troops exercised maximum restraint.
Strongly rejecting the RPF accusation, the release said that on February 28, troops of Assam Rifles on road opening duty successfully located an IED planted by PLA in between Torbung Bangla and S Kotlian.
L/Nk Kailash Wagh approached the IED with utmost care and professionalism.
However, PLA remotely activated the IED endangering civilian passers-by of their life, maintained the release and added that Kailash made the supreme sacrifice and attained martyrdom while ensuring safety of school children, daily commuters and villages of Torbung and S Kotlian.
The villagers came on their own to the blast site within five minutes, even before other AR troops could reach there and willingly helped in evacuating the injured.
Later they turned out in large numbers at the Khengjang COB and expressed their heartfelt condolences, the release conveyed.
